Konami, USL strike multi-year partnership

In the coming Spring 2022, eFootball players will be given full access to all the aspects of the USL Championship.

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. and the United Soccer League (USL) have joined hands in a multi-year partnership. Following this, the USL Championship will feature in KONAMI’s famous video game series eFootball.

While this partnership marks the first entry of the USL Championship in any video game property.

In this agreement, the eFootball logo will be seen appearing on the signage as the USL games are nationally televised. While the video game will also be the official presenting partner of the USL Championship Player of the Week and Player of the Month. Apart from these, eFootball will also be using creative digital and on-site marketing activations for its promotion.

In the coming Spring 2022, eFootball players will be given full access to all the aspects of the USL Championship. This will be including comprehensive access to clubs, official kits, crests, and players in the game.

Speaking on the occasion, Yuta Kose, President, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc, said: “We’re proud to join forces with the USL as part of our strategic effort to capitalize on the surge in popularity of soccer in the United States. Adding to it, USL Executive Vice-President, Court Jeske, said: “Today is a huge day for the USL, our clubs, and our fans. For nearly 30 years, soccer video games have been a part of fan culture across the globe. Konami has a rich history in producing some of the most popular and successful games in the industry, while also engaging with the next generation of fans. This partnership is timed perfectly with the evolution of USL. We’re excited for our fans to download the game and have the opportunity to play as their favorite USL club, and fans from around the world to be introduced to our league through eFootball.” 

The USL Championship began in 2011, as a professional men’s soccer league in the United States. The championship is sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation as a Division II professional league since 2017, with Major League Soccer sitting above it.
