In the 54th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are up against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow tonight, May 5, at 7:30 PM IST.
Its the contest between second and third as the battle for top two is becoming more intense. LSG are presently third in the points table, with 12 points from six wins. Skipper KL Rahul has been in fine form, while Marcus Stoinis and Deepak Hooda have also been excellent. The unit has recently missed some hard-hitting at the backend of the innings. With the ball too, Mayank Yadav‘s return has been unimpressive but on the other hand, Mohsin Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq have been decent.
For KKR, who are second in the points tally, can clear their way to secure their second spot if they win tonight. Playing on a slow deck in Mumbai, the Knights struggled a bit but Venkatesh Iyer and Manish Pandey steadily built the innings once again to put up a decent total. The side, however, will see similar conditions in Lucknow but this time the batters, including Phil Salt, Sunil Narine, Shreyas Iyer, and other, will hope to perform better. The bowlers, which includes Varun Chakaravarthy, Vaibhav Arora and Mitchell Starc will also aim to continue their dominance. Notably, Harshit Rana will also be eligible to play.
