The 28th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Sunday, April 14 at 3:30 PM IST.
Entering this match, Kolkata hold the second position in the league table with three victories and a single defeat. Meanwhile, Lucknow sit fourth with three wins and two losses.
Both teams will be looking to bounce back from their respective losses. KKR fell short against the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), by seven wickets. Similarly, LSG lost to Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets.
The home team’s batting failed miserably in the previous match, despite valiant efforts from Sunil Narine (27 runs) and captain Shreyas Iyer (34 runs), the two-time IPL champions were only able to post a modest total. The Knight Riders took early wickets, but it wasn’t enough to defend the below-par total. A lot will be riding on the shoulders of Vaibhav Arora, Mitchell Starc and Varun Chakravarthy to pocket wickets and exert pressure on opposing teams.
Similarly, the visitors’ opening pair of Captain KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock has provided promising starts but lacks consistency. Devdutt Padikkal‘s lack of form has resulted in early setbacks for their batting attack. While players like Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran have rescued the team in the latter part of the innings. The team has fared well in defending a target but the team’s batting lineup is in dire need to rediscover form.
Head-to-Head:
KKR and LSG have met three times in the IPL and the latter emerged victorious on all occasions.
