In the 66th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) take on Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad tonight, i.e., May 16 at 7:30 PM IST.
With two games remaining, SRH, who already have 14 points, could push it to 18. Furthermore, the team now also has a chance to qualify as one of the top two units in the league. In their last outing, SRH batters completely decimated LSG bowlers and certainly, they would again try to do the same tonight. The Sunrisers would hope to build on their momentum from the previous game, not just with the bat. The team would like Bhuvneshwar Kumar to continue his magic at the start of the innings, while Shahbaz Ahmed and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth could also prove more effective. With the willow, the unit just blasts fire. Both Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head batted at a strike rate of more than 250, and if they get an extended stay tonight, GT will be in big danger.
The visitors have nothing to gain from tonight’s game, but they would undoubtedly like to finish their season on a high. The unit had a terrific outing with the bat in its last encounter against CSK before the abandoned game, in which it posted 231 runs, courtesy of both opening batters Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. The fans would hope to see GT batters deliver again, and not just openers. The likes of Rahul Tewatia, David Miller, and others’ contributions would be significant. Notably, Mohit Sharma has been a huge hit for GT this season and will want to finish strong. The performances of Rashid Khan, Umesh Yadav, and Noor Ahmad will also be tested tonight for the final time this season.
Head-to-Head:
GT dominate the head-to-head battle, as they have won three out of four games against SRH. Even in the game played earlier this season, GT won by seven wickets.
