IPL 2024 RCB vs DC: RCB bowlers derail DC batters; secure fifth win on the trot

With this win, RCB now have 12 points and are fifth in the points tally.

In the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 47 runs at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

DC won the toss and asked RCB to bat first. The home team aggressively began their innings with Virat Kohli (27) playing at a strike rate of over 207. The batter looked in supreme touch, as he hit one four and three humongous sixes. Moreover, Will Jacks (41) continued his terrific form and with him, Rajat Patidar (52) also scored an impressive fifty. Wills and Patidar’s return to form in the middle order has helped RCB become strong and legitimate playoff candidates. Both batters added 88 runs for the third wicket partnership. Towards the end, Cameron Green (32*) also hit a few out of the park to take the Challengers to a decent score of 187/9.

Chasing 188, Aussies batters David Warner and Jake Fraser-McGurk (21) came to open and it looked a dangerous combo. While the young batter smacked two sixes and two fours, the veteran southpaw batter got out on the second ball. Skipper Axar Patel (57) led the team in the chase as he scored a fifty and batted till the 16th. The unit kept losing wickets and ultimately got bundled for just 140 runs.

While defending, Yash Dayal was at his best as he plucked three wickets and just gave away 20 runs. Along with him, Lockie Ferguson grabbed two wickets, while one wicket each was taken by Swapnil Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and Cameron Green. Notably, Green also just conceded 19 runs in his quota of four overs.
