IPL 2023 PBKS vs RCB: Siraj, du Plessis secure two vital points for RCB

Following this win, RCB have won their third win of the season and are now placed fifth on the points table.

In the 27th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 24 runs at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

PBKS won the toss and elected to field first. The visitors had a great start to the innings as their skipper, Virat Kohli (59) and Faf du Plessis (84), once again continued their fine form in this match. From one end Kohli smashed five fours and one six, while du Plessis also hammered five fours and five sixes. Both the batters added massive 137 runs for the first wicket partnership. This one partnership was enough to build a massive target for the home side. RCB ended their innings with 174 runs in 20 overs.

In the chase, Prabhsimran Singh (46) was the only batter who was impressed with his performance. The batter tried his best but due to a lack of help from the other end, even he couldn’t convert his good knock into an amazing one. Along with him, Jitesh Sharma (41) was the other batter to score a few runs but it was just too late for PBKS.

Mohammad Siraj, while defending in the second innings, picked up four wickets in his quota of four overs. Wanindu Hasaranga also grabbed two wickets while one wicket each was also taken by Wayne Parnell and Harshal Patel.

For PBKS, Harpreet Brar claimed two wickets and one wicket each was grabbed by Arshdeep Singh and Nathan Ellis.

Mohammad Siraj was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling. Following this win, RCB have won their third win of the season and are now placed fifth on the points table.
