In the 39th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata tomorrow i.e. Saturday, April 29 at 3:30 PM IST.
This season, KKR has already defeated GT, with Rinku Singh spectacularly hitting five sixes in the last over to seal the game in Ahmedabad. KKR have reported no injury worries ahead of the encounter, however, GT may be missing Sai Sudharsan, who also missed the last game.
Jason Roy has two half-centuries in a row and is expected to have a strong start at the top. Nitish Rana is constantly scoring runs in the middle order, while Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh give additional batting depth. Varun Chakravarthy leads KKR’s wicket-takers list with 13 and might earn the purple cap if he takes two wickets while Rashid Khan goes wicketless. Suyash Sharma has also performed effectively, although Sunil Narine and KKR pacers have struggled.
Shubman Gill has been regularly scoring runs at the top of the order, while Sai Sudharsan has been outstanding in the middle order. If he is unable to participate, GT will still have sufficient in-form players like Hardik Pandya, David Miller and Vijay Shankar. Abhinav Manohar, who was named man-of-the-match in the last game, has also joined the party. Rashid Khan leads the bowling attack with 14 wickets and the Purple Cap race, while Mohammad Shami is on song lately with 10 wickets. Mohit Sharma, a late addition to the bowling unit, had six wickets in the last three games. Spinner Noor Ahmad, who claimed three wickets in the previous game, also alarmed batters with his enigmatic bowling.

The two teams are tied in the head-to-head battle, having played each other twice and winning one game each. The two teams played against each other earlier this season with KKR winning by three wickets.
