In the 47th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Monday, May 2 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai at 7:30 PM IST.
After starting the season on a positive note and acquiring a place in the top four, Kolkata Knight Riders have now slipped in the leaderboard. The two-time champions are on a five-match losing streak. The team’s last victory came against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the first week of April. KKR have played nine games so far out of which they won three and lost six matches. The out of form Venkatesh Iyer and Varun Chakravarthy have been the biggest concern for the Knight Riders. The Shreyas Iyer-led team needs a major comeback to get their place back in the top four. With six points, KKR have acquired the eighth spot at the moment.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals are having their best season so far in a very long time. The inaugural champions have won their last three consecutive fixtures. The bowling and batting unit of the team has been firing on all cylinders. RR have the Orange Cap holder, Jos Butler and the Purple Cap holder, Yuzvendra Chahal in their line-up. The Sanju Samson-led team played eight games till now in IPL 2022, out of which they won six and lost twice. Considering the current performance, the one-time IPL champion is one of the contenders to win the title this season. With 12 points, RR have currently occupied the second position on the leaderboard.

KKR and RR have squared off on 26 occasions, the former came out victorious on 13 occasions, while the latter won 12 games.
In the last outing between the two teams earlier this season, Kolkata won by seven runs.
