In Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) will square off to determine the first finalist of the ongoing edition. The fixture will take place on Tuesday, May 24 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata at 7:30 PM IST.
Gujarat Titans, the first-ever team to qualify for the playoffs in the IPL 2022, have had a dream debut. A stable opening pair, multiple explosive batsmen in the middle-order and a set of cunning bowlers have made them favourites to win the title. Just a couple of steps away from claiming their maiden IPL victory, the table-toppers will go full throttle in the climax of the ongoing season. After losing the final game of the league stage, the Hardik Pandya-led team will look to win Tuesday’s fixture and advance into the final.
On the other hand, the inaugural champions, who are having their best season as compared to their last few seasons finished the league stage with 18 points. The one-time champion, out of nowhere, won two consecutive games and acquired the second spot on the points table. After Jos Butler‘s bat has been silenced, the talented off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin has stood up and rescued Rajasthan Royals with the bat on several occasions. The youngster, Yashasvi Jaiswal has also been firing with the bat at the top order. The likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Obed McCoy have also been consistently taking wickets. Sanju Samson and the team will look to recreate the glory of 2008 by winning the current season.
