IPL 2021: Virat Kohli believes that RCB’s new buys can propel them towards victory

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has expressed his approval about the  franchise’s new picks at the auction and believes that the latest additions like Glenn Maxwell, Dan Christian, and Kyle Jamieson can help them win the IPL this year.

In a video posted by RCB’s Twitter handle, Kohli said, “Very very happy with our buys and the results we had in the auction. We got what we wanted for the balance and strength of our squad. We had a really good season last year and we believe that the new additions are going to propel us in the right direction going forward. Hopefully, a couple of more steps further than the last year. Cannot wait to be back and get going for RCB this year. Just want to say once again, RCB fans are the best fanbase, we look forward to your support.”

In the recently concluded mini-auction in Chennai, RCB made some expensive choices by acquiring Kyle Jamieson for Rs 15 crores, Glenn Maxwell for Rs 14.25 crores, and Dan Christian for Rs 4.80 crores. Apart from these overseas additions, RCB also invested heavily in domestic talent by picking Sachin Baby, Raja Patidar, Mohammed Azharudeen, Suyash Prabhudessai, and KS Bharat for Rs 20 lakhs each. By the end of the auction, the team management had Rs 35 lakhs left in their purse.

Hopefully, Captain Kohli’s optimism will bring a much-needed turn of fortune for the team, which is still one of the three original franchises who have not won IPL even once, despite reaching the finals thrice. RCB have featured the biggest cricketing names in their line-ups over the years but still managed to fail before crossing the final hurdle.

RCB’s updated squad for IPL 2021 has Virat Kohli (c), Devdutt Padikkal, Josh Philippe, AB de Villiers, Pavan Deshpande, Washington Sundar, Daniel Sams, Yuzvendra Chahal, Adam Zampa, Shahbaz Ahmed, Mohammed Siraj, Navdeep Saini, Kane Richardson, Harshal Patel, Glenn Maxwell, Sachin Baby, Rajat Patidar, Mohammed Azharuddeen, Kyle Jamieson, Daniel Christian, Suyash Prabhudessai, KS Bharat.
