IPL 2021: Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers begin training for RCB

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) welcomed their two prolific batsmen in training on Wednesday. After completing the quarantine, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers were given the green signal to start preparations for IPL 2021 with other members of the squad.

RCB is currently training in Chennai ahead of the inaugural game of IPL 2021 against defending champions Mumbai Indians. Courtesy of the pandemic, no IPL team will be playing in their home stadiums this season. RCB is majorly going to play in Chennai during this season.

Kohli welcomed new players that have joined the squad for IPL 2021. The Bangalore-based franchise splurged big money on Glenn Maxwell, Kyle Jamieson, and Dan Christian during IPL 2021 auction. They also picked up good Indian players in Rajat Patidar and Mohammed Azharudeen.

The prolific Indian batsman also urged his players to maintain momentum from last season and take the next step this year. RCB had qualified for playoffs in IPL 2020, first time since 2016. Meanwhile, AB de Villiers gave an insight into his schedule during the quarantine.

Kohli wants to go forward this season with the good spirit, for the season. AB De Villiers and Virat Kohli both had a net session together for the first time this year on Wednesday. The South African batsman will be a key player in the middle order for RCB.

Kohli will be eyeing a prolific campaign ahead of T-20 World Cup

On a personal note, Kohli had an average season last year. He did manage to score close to 400 runs, but he has set the bar too high during the past few years. Kohli will be eyeing a prolific season with RCB to finally bring the trophy to the franchise and also have ideal preparations for October’s T-20 World Cup in India.
