IPL 2021 Phase 2: Rishab Pant to continue as Delhi Capitals’ captain

Delhi Capitals are scheduled to play Sunrisers Hyderabad on 22nd September in their first game of the second phase.

Indian cricketer Rishab Pant is all set to continue as the captain of the table-toppers Delhi Capitals in phase 2 of IPL 2021

Delhi Capitals led the points table with 12 points in eight games and as they enjoyed a good run under Pant’s captaincy. The officials have reportedly decided to continue with Pant as the captain of the side.

Even though the former captain Shreyas Iyer will be available for phase 2 of the competition after recovering from his shoulder injury, Delhi Capitals will reportedly be keeping Pant as its captain.

In an official press release, Shreyas Iyer said, “I am feeling on top of the world, to be honest. This was the thing I was eagerly waiting for. It’s never a bad feeling to be among the team. I came six days prior to the start of the practice sessions for the team, and I had two good games against the UAE team, so I just want to continue with the same momentum.”

The decision came forward as Shreyas Iyer has not played a competitive match since March due to his injury, the DC officials are not in favour of taking unnecessary risks and will continue with Pant as captain of the side.

Shreyas Iyer also said, “I was sitting in front of the TV, watching each and every game and feeling as if I am on the ground and trying to replicate the scenario at my place. But, it’s in the past now, I have to forget about it and continue with the same flow, the team has maintained throughout.”

Delhi Capitals are scheduled to play Sunrisers Hyderabad on 22nd September in their first game of the second phase as they look to continue being the table toppers.
