IndyCar signs broadcasting rights extension with NBC sports

The deal between NBC Sports and IndyCar dates back to 2009, has been extended until 2022 which will be the 11th year of the partnership.

The IndyCar series, also known as the NTT IndyCar series is one of the more popular racing circuits of the United States, they recently announced their broadcasting deal extension with NBC sports who are responsible for streaming the sports in the USA.

The deal between NBC Sports and IndyCar dates back to 2009, has been extended until 2022 which will be the 11th year of the partnership.

NBC Sports will be including 13 events on their primary OTT service starting from the next season, although the schedule of the new season has not been released yet, it has been reported that two of the IndyCar races will be on peacock which will be streamed exclusively by NBC sports.

The extension deal was signed on Tuesday that will see the broadcast network replace the cable and broadcast the races on its in-house streaming platform.

Fans await the new season of the IndyCar and are also looking forward to the schedule, with Jimmie Johnson, Romain Grosjean and Alex Palou who won last season are all contenders for the title. The new season will provide the same thrill that it has delivered over the years.

NBC has recorded some of the highest viewership across the many seasons. It has broadcasted the races, with the ratings peaking in 2016 and the new season promises to bring along the same amount of thrill and record massive viewership in the times of the pandemic where people will be watching from the comfort of their homes.
