Houston Astros team up with Oxy

As part of the seven-year agreement, Oxy's logo will be displayed on the Astros' shirt sleeves for both regular season and postseason games.

The Major League Baseball (MLB) team, Houston Astros have inked a new agreement with the energy company Oxy. In this deal, the brand will serve as the team’s new jersey patch sponsor.

As part of the seven-year agreement, Oxy’s logo will be displayed on the Astros’ shirt sleeves for both regular season and postseason games.

Since 2013, Oxy has become a supporter of the Astros and is currently a sponsor of the Astros Foundation. Operation Military Appreciation, a game-day promotion where seniors and active-duty service members receive free tickets, is another way in which the firm supports the Astros.

The majority of Oxy’s assets are located in the US, the Middle East, and North Africa. Oxy relocated its headquarters to Houston in 2014.

Vicki Hollub, President and Chief Executive of Oxy, said, “Oxy and the Astros share a passion for the city that we call home and it’s exciting to deepen our relationship and recognise our strong ties with Oxy’s addition to the World Series champion’s jerseys. We believe this partnership provides an opportunity to reach new audiences that share our commitment to building stronger local communities and who embrace the value of service to others.”

The Astros are the most recent MLB team since the league’s announcement of the initiative in April 2022 to obtain a uniform sponsor. The size of the uniform patches will be four by four inches.

Through a partnership with Motorola, the San Diego Padres became the first team to get a jersey sponsor. Arizona Diamondbacks have a partnership with Avnet, Boston Red Sox have a partnership with MassMutual, and Los Angeles Angels have a partnership with Foundation Building Materials.

Both, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees have employed agencies to assist them in securing arrangements for the sale of their jerseys.
