Google Pixel teams up with NBA as Official Fan Phone

Google will use NBA as a platform to raise awareness about the Pixel 6 smartphone.

Google Pixel smartphone has been named as the Official Fan Phone of NBA as a result of Google’s new multi-year deal with the league. Google with this new deal is set to be the first-ever presenting sponsor of NBA playoffs broadcast on ESPN and TNT networks.

Over the years, Google has invested heavily in sponsoring the NBA, which is set to increase after penning down the new deal. The IT giant has specifically used NBA and basketball as a platform to raise awareness about the Pixel 6 smartphone.

The deal will see Google Pixel as an Official Fan Phone of the NBA, NBA G League, and NBA 2K League. The pixel will be the first-ever presenting partner of the NBA Playoffs, while YouTube TV remains the presenting sponsor. Back in 2019, Google Pixel presented the NBA Eastern Conference Finals.

This multi-year partnership deal will see Google work with the NBA in creating exciting immersive experiences for the fans using 3D and AR technology. This will likely manifest as AR athlete models that show them in action, with the company recording the Olympians this summer.

Moreover, Google is the league’s Official Search Engine and Search Trends and Fans Insights Partner to combine the best of Google’s Search trends, information, technology, devices and services to help fans go deeper and get closer to the culture, team and players they love.

Pixel is now seen as a guiding platform to help fans take pictures, search to check scores, statistics, match schedules, Google Shopping to find jerseys, and maps for routing. This NBA outreach follows Google back in August stating they were going to aggressively market Pixel 6 and now the deal being agreed they have fulfilled their objective.
