Disney Star draws 47.5 crore viewers for first 34 matches of IPL 2024; receives 24500 crore minutes of total viewing time

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 approaches its midway point, Disney Star, the official broadcaster of the IPL, retains its lead in viewership, establishing new standards for television broadcasting.

According to the most recent Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India figures, Disney Star drew 47.5 crore viewers and attracted 24500 crore minutes of total viewing time, representing an 18% increase in consumption over the previous edition.

The media outlet has also seen a 5% increase in TV reach for live broadcasts compared to the prior maximum recorded in 2019. Disney Star also had a 19% increase in TVR throughout the first 34 matches compared to the previous edition.

The match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during #IPLonStar rivalry week was one of the tournament’s most intense battles. The match won by CSK by 20 runs at the Wankhede Stadium had 6.3 crore concurrent viewers on TV during MS Dhoni‘s vintage assault (20 runs off 4 balls), the greatest concurrency for any league game in the current and prior seasons.

The battle between the five-time champions was also the highest-rated league stage match outside of the pandemic years, with 17.4 crore viewers on TV and a viewing time of 1540 crore minutes on April 14, 2024.

Disney Star, the official broadcaster of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, has inaugurated the ‘VISA TO WORLD CUP’ week, which will put the spotlight on the best talents coming from the IPL while also scrutinising their possible inclusion in India’s final 15-man team for the biggest prize in T20 cricket.
