The humongous concurrent viewership was achieved when Virat Kohli claimed his 49th ODI ton, equalizing the record of the great Sachin Tendulkar.

Disney+ Hotstar, the official digital streaming platform of the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, has yet again gathered record-breaking viewership, this time it was during the India-South Africa World Cup game.

The OTT medium recorded a massive 44 million concurrent viewership when Virat Kohli claimed his 49th ODI ton, equalizing the record of the great Sachin Tendulkar.

Previously, the highest was 43 million which was obtained during the India-New Zealand game in Dharamsala. The all-important marquee clash between India and Pakistan registered 35 million viewers on the portal.

The digital medium is on fire with these numerical games related to viewership, and it was highly expected as this time, the company is providing free streaming of the tournament on mobile phones, including the feature of data saver.

In the 37th game of the multinational 50-over competition, the hosts defeated the Proteas by a massive margin of 243 runs. The stars of the match were Virat, who celebrated his 35th birthday with some style by hitting a spectacular century, and Ravindra Jadeja, who claimed his first five-wicket haul in a World Cup encounter. Before heading towards the knock-out stage, the Men-in-Blue will be squaring off against the Netherlands on Sunday, November 12 in Bengaluru.
