Disney+ Hotstar creates history; gathers 43 million concurrent viewers during India-New Zealand encounter

This new record on Disney+ Hotstar has shattered the previous record of 35 million concurrent viewership that was gathered during the Indo-Pak World Cup game.

Disney+ Hotstar, the official digital streaming platform of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, set a new concurrent viewership record during the India-New Zealand encounter.

The premier OTT platform gathered a peak concurrent viewership of 43 million during the 21st game of the ongoing competition and shattered the previous record of 35 million that was registered during the high-octane Indo-Pak World Cup clash.

Disney+ Hotstar first reached the 40 million mark when Virat Kohli was on the verge of scoring his 49th ODI century. The viewership steered up to 43 million when Ravindra Jadeja played the winning shot, which helped India to secure their fifth victory on a trot in this event.

The streaming platform is in a blazing form these days in terms of viewership. The portal provides free streaming of the tournament on cell phones with the data saver feature that helps the viewers stream matches without consuming a lot of internet data.

In the 21st match of the ongoing multinational event, India beat New Zealand by four wickets and ended the 20-year-old streak of losing against the Kiwis in ICC tournaments.
