The British & Irish Lions have developed a strategic partnership with the English professional rugby union competition, Premiership Rugby and the United Rugby Championship for the 2025 Lions Tour to Australia.
While the United Rugby Championship is an annually held rugby union competition featuring professional teams from Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa, and Wales, the British & Irish Lions team is made up of players from England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
The strategic alliance emerged after a period of consultation among all parties and illustrates the willingness of the various parts of the rugby ecosystem to collaborate for the betterment of the game.
The Lions will collaborate with Premiership Rugby, the United Rugby Championship, and their clubs to improve the tour’s offerings.
One of the major parts of the deal is aligning the tour schedule, and this agreement will make it possible for all of the chosen British & Irish Lions players to participate in all pre-tour activities. Along with this, a cooperative approach to digital content, events, and important announcements, in addition to other marketing and promotional initiatives, will also be made easier by the partnership.
