Premiership Rugby has renewed the sponsorship deal with Gilbert. The sports equipment specialist will continue to sponsor rugby balls in the competition until the end of the 2022-23 season.
It will be the 24th consecutive season for Premiership Rugby to rely on Gilbert for the supply of rugby equipment. Gilbert’s Sirius match ball will feature in both Gallagher Premiership Rugby and the Premiership Rugby Cup.
The sports equipment manufacturer has been the official ball at the Rugby World Cup for the last seven consecutive tournaments. They will also sponsor the Rugby World Cup 2021 and 2023 in New Zealand and France, respectively.
With this partnership, Gilbert celebrates 200 years in the game of rugby. They have acquired the top position in terms of manufacturing rugby balls and training equipment. They have also brought innovations in rugby, such as ball-tracking technology.
Mark Brittain, Chief Commercial Officer at Premiership Rugby, said, “Gilbert is Premiership Rugby’s longest-serving partner, and I’m delighted to announce that we will be using their iconic ball for another three seasons. Gilbert has been the ideal partner since its association with the Premiership began in 1997, and they complement the values of Premiership Rugby perfectly. The next three seasons should see the implementation of several exciting collaborations, including a focus on driving innovation in our sport, with the focus on improving the game for players and fans alike.”
