Austrian Bundesliga signs extension in broadcasting deal with Sky Group

The extension is valued at a sum of €300 million, which is equal to €37.5m per season, with the deal from the 2022/23 season will be worth €40 million per season.

The Austrian Football Bundesliga which is the top flight tier of football in Austria announced on Tuesday that the league will be extending their broadcasting deal with Sky Group, being Europe’s largest media company and a pay-tv broadcaster, the deal was extended for over a span of four years.

The original deal which was signed back in November 2017 was signed for again a span of four years with an option to extend, the same clause was triggered by the league and this will Sky broadcast the Austrian Bundesliga up until the 2025/26 campaign of the league.

The Austrian Bundesliga which saw Red Bull Salzburg lift the trophy in the 2019/20 season is known to produce big talents, the most recent one being Norwegian prodigy Erling Haaland who transferred to Borussia Dortmund in Germany from Red Bull Salzburg after his continues and prolific goal scoring form in the champions league which saw him stand out from the rest of the youngsters.

The youth development of the league makes it intriguing for the fans and the competition between the teams make it exciting, the extension with Sky is good news for everyone as it benefits the pay-tv broadcaster and gives the fans a medium to watch their favourite players in action.
