Aditya Birla Group makes a big move in IPL title rights race: Reports

The IPL, which will have its 17th season played this year, is seeking bids for the title sponsorship rights for the upcoming five years.

The Indian multinational conglomerate company, Aditya Birla Group has unveiled a bid of INR 500 crore per year (INR 2,500 crore in total) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) title sponsorship rights, as per media sources.

The cash-rich tournament, which will have its 17th season played this year, is seeking bids for the upcoming five-year cycle.

The Tata Group has the first right of refusal per the Board of Control for Cricket in India‘s (BCCI) sponsorship regulations.

It was reported that the proposal has to be submitted by Friday, i.e., January 19, until 5 PM IST. On December 12, last year, the tender was posted by the Indian apex cricket governing entity. The IPL Governing Council is seeking offers from respectable businesses to secure title sponsor rights for the next five editions.

The upcoming season will have 74 matches in total. The number of matches will increase to 84 in 2025 and 2026, and 94 in 2027, according to BCCI’s plan.
