FC Porto sign Betano as official betting partner

This new agreement with FC Porto is the sixth partnership that Betano has agreed to with a club in Portugal.

Portugal’s Primeira Liga side FC Porto has signed a betting partnership with the Greek operator Betano, marking it as the firm’s sixth agreement with a club in the country.

With the partnership in place, the betting brand Betano will gain the title of the official betting partner of FC Porto and will also additionally gain front-of-shirt sponsorship of the club’s handball team.

Commenting on the agreement, Rui Lousa, Director of Porto Commercial, said, “This is an extremely important deal for us, as we are always looking at associating ourselves to strong partners, especially in a matter as important as this one.

“It was an easy agreement, as both parties were eager to close the deal. We are very pleased to have Betano as Betting Sponsor and our wish is that this will be a good partnership for everyone.”

The betting operator had previously failed to secure the title sponsorship to the Primeira Liga. They lost the contract to Entain brand Bwin despite agreeing on terms to a €5.5 million per season four-year deal which prompted them to file a legal challenge against the Portuguese Football Federation.

Despite losing the contract of the Primeira Liga, Betano has clinched agreements with some top-flight clubs in the Portugal league. This new agreement with FC Porto is the sixth partnership that Betano has agreed to with a club in Portugal.

It already has agreements in place with Benfica and Sporting CP as well as SC Braga, Marítimo, and Os Belenenses in the Portugal league. It also has agreements in place with clubs outside of Portugal such as Brazil’s Fluminense and Atlético Mineiro, Greece’s Olympiacos and PAOK Salónica, and some other clubs in Romania and Cyprus as well.

FC Porto has recently secured a draw in the UEFA Champions League against Athletico Madrid and will now be playing next Moreirense in Primeira Liga. In the UCL they will play against Liverpool.
