Sydney Swans extend 36-year-old association with QBE Insurance

The 36-year-old association will continue to provide comprehensive care to the men's and women's sides of the AFL team.

The Australian Football League (AFL) team, Sydney Swans have announced that they have extended their partnership with QBE Insurance for another five years.

The 36-year-old association will continue to provide comprehensive care to the men’s and women’s sides of the AFL team, as well as the QBE Sydney Swans Academy.

As a result of this partnership renewal, QBE will also serve as the club’s first ‘Whole of Club’ principal partner. With this deal, the agreement has also become one of the country’s lengthiest sporting sponsorships, which is beyond 40 years.

Sue Houghton, Chief Executive Officer, QBE Australia Pacific, said, “QBE’s relationship with the Swans is reflective of our shared core values of teamwork, courage, resilience and inclusion, and we’re thrilled to be taking our long-term partnership into four decades.

“In both of our industries – sport and insurance – we are challenging stereotypes by empowering female talent and leadership and proving the benefits of greater diversity. We’re proud to be creating more pathways to success through initiatives that are inspiring young people on and off the field.”

QBE’s assistance includes the QBE Sydney Swans Academy, which was founded in 2010 to identify and develop skills and talent among many budding young football players.

Players like Isaac Heeney, Callum Mills, and Ruby Sargent-Wilson have progressed through the Academy’s ranks, and the Academy’s Youth Girls Program provides an accomplished training programme for female football players in New South Wales.
