This new deal will include SPN to broadcast all league matches live in January 2022 on the SONY TEN 1 and SONY TEN 3 channels. The games will also be live-streamed on SonyLIV, which is SPN’s OTT platform.
Raman Raheja, CEO, Legends League Cricket, said, “SPN has a very credible history of making sporting events a grand success, including the most premium T20 cricket leagues in the world. We wish to walk a long mile with them and ensure viewers are treated with a very competitive and entertaining form of Cricket. The league starts January 20th 2022.”
Recently, Amitabh Bachchan has been appointed as the ambassador of the Legends League Cricket. The organisers have also named Ravi Shastri as the commissioner, who will oversee the cricketing aspect. Cricketers from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Australia, and England, among other countries, will compete in the league’s inaugural season.
As per Rajesh Kaul, Sony Pictures Networks India’s chief revenue officer, distribution, and head of sports business, having these stalwarts on the field competing against each other will engage audiences across all over India.
“Sony Sports has always served its viewers with its diverse portfolio of premier sports content and with the Legends League Cricket, we will present our viewers a great viewing experience of watching these legends in action on our sports channels,” Kaul stated.
SPN is a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of Sony Corporation, Japan. In India, the broadcaster operates several channels in various languages and genres, including SET, MAX, SAB, and Sony Marathi.
