Watford to wear Dogecoin on jerseys for 2021/22 season

There has been a deal of approximately $1 million between Watford and the cryptocurrency company Stake.com.

The players of Watford FC will be wearing the logo of meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin on their sleeves for the Premier League’s 2021/22 season. Watford wore the logo on their jersey sleeves for the first time on Sunday. There has been a deal of approximately $1 million between Watford and the cryptocurrency company Stake.com. This makes the cryptocurrency Watford’s sleeve sponsor for this season.

The deal — a collaboration with main shirt sponsors Stake.com — will be worth in the region of £700,000 [$970,000] to the Premier League newcomers and could break their previous sleeve partnership with bitcoin of £1 million if it gains global traction,” a report on Athletic stated.

Last season Watford was sponsored by Sportsbet.io for the entire season. They wore the company logo on the front and the bitcoin logo on the sleeves. “Starting in 2021/22, the club-record deal will see Stake become the club’s principal shirt sponsor as they return to the Premier League,” said the club.

Furthermore, the announcement states that “To commemorate the beginning of the partnership, Stake will be running crypto-themed initiatives, including a 10 million dogecoin giveaway on their international platform.”

The Premier League season of 2021/22 kicked off on Saturday with Brentford beating Arsenal 2-0 in the first fixture of the season. Watford played Aston Villa in its first game of the season, the former came out victorious 3-2 in a home game.
