Partake Foods takes center stage as Phoenix Mercury and Cleveland Avenue unveil first-ever rotating jersey badge program

Throughout the upcoming season, Phoenix Mercury jerseys will feature a dynamic display of the logo of Partake Foods on the left shoulder.

The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) team, Phoenix Mercury have announced a groundbreaking partnership with Cleveland Avenue, a venture capital firm focused on diversity.

This innovative initiative allows the Mercury to showcase the WNBA’s first-ever rotating jersey badge program.

The program kicks off with Partake Foods, a brand known for its delicious and allergy-friendly treats, as the inaugural sponsor. Throughout the upcoming season, the four-time Western Conference winners’ jerseys will feature a dynamic display of the logo on the left shoulder.

This initiative marks an extension of the global partnership announced last week between Phoenix Mercury, Phoenix Suns, and Cleveland Avenue.

Josh Bartelstein, Phoenix Mercury and Phoenix Suns, Chief Executive Officer, said, “The magnitude of this historic partnership with Cleveland Avenue is built on our shared commitment to invest in and support women – from athletes to entrepreneurs. Featuring Partake Foods on Mercury jerseys this season offers the opportunity to showcase a woman-founded company making a positive impact in its industry, furthering our goal to empower women on and off the court.”

Denise Woodard, Partake Foods Founder and Chief Executive Officer, said, “Being chosen as the inaugural brand of this incredible partnership is both an honor and aligned to Partake’s mission of radical inclusivity. We are proud to join Cleveland Avenue and the Phoenix Mercury in championing all that women are capable of achieving.”

Don Thompson, Founder & CEO, Cleveland Avenue, LLC., said, “Building on the Phoenix Mercury, Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Avenue announcement last week, the selection of Partake Foods is a great example of how Cleveland Avenue accelerates growth for entrepreneurs and their businesses. Our organizations share a vision where diversity is valued, and collaboration is needed to bring communities together for mutual success in a world where large and small companies thrive alongside one another.”

Cleveland Avenue is a Chicago-based venture capital firm that champions diversity in the startup world. The entity focuses on investing in innovative ideas and emerging brands led by women entrepreneurs. By providing funding, expertise, and mentorship, Cleveland Avenue aims to bridge the gap in resources and propel these underrepresented founders towards success.

Partake Foods caters to those with dietary restrictions by offering a line of allergy-friendly cookies. The food and beverage service providers’ cookies are free of the top 14 allergens, including gluten, soy, and dairy, making them a safe and inclusive treat.

The three-time WNBA champions are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2023 season. Their season starts with a pre-season match against Seattle Storm on May 8, followed by a home game against Los Angeles Sparks on May 11. Their official season opener is on the road against Las Vegas Aces on May 14, with the home opener following right after on May 18 against Atlanta Dream.
