In the 22nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Tuesday, April 12 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai at 7:30 PM IST.
Chennai Super Kings will be heading into their highly anticipated upcoming fixture, which is also called the South Indian derby, without registering a single victory so far. The new skipper of the defending champions, Ravindra Jadeja has been finding it difficult to get his team over the finish line. In the previous game, CSK lost against the equally struggling Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets. The silver lining from the previous game for the team has been a moderate contribution from the top order batting line-up. The bowling line-up of the team has been the major drawback without Deepak Chahar. The CSK camp will look to improve some aspects of the bowling unit. The defending champions are at the bottom of the table.
The other contestant of the South Indian derby, Royal Challengers Bangalore have been doing well till now in the ongoing season. In their latest game, they went against the five-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) and won the contest by seven wickets. The explosive knock of Anuj Rawat was the major positive for the team along with a healthy score from Virat Kohli. With the inclusion of Glenn Maxwell, the batting depth of the team has been strengthened, which makes RCB a force to reckon with. The finisher Dinesh Karthik and the highly consistent Harshal Patel have been the franchise’s MVPs so far. The RCB camp will look forward to clinching two more points to stay in the top four. With six points to their name, the Faf du Plessis-led unit has occupied the fourth spot.
In the head-to-head competition between the two teams, CSK have a dominant lead. The two teams squared off on 28 occasions, Chennai won 18 games while Bangalore emerged victorious on nine instances.
In the last outing between the two teams, CSK won the fixture by six wickets.
