India vs England 2022 1st ODI: Match preview, head-to-head and streaming details

In the head-to-head competition between the two teams, India have a fair amount of advantage.

In the India tour of England 2022, the first ODI of the three-match series will be held on Tuesday, July 12 at the Kennington Oval in London at 5:30 PM IST.

The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team made an emphatic comeback in the T20I series after falling short in the rescheduled fifth Test match. The visitors will walk into the upcoming ODI series with their heads up high after clinching the shortest format by 2-1. The out-of-form Virat Kohli would be a major concern for the tourists. The likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya looked in a top-notch form in the recently concluded T20I series. The Indian camp would want its in-form players to step up in the upcoming fixtures and lead India to a historic ODI series victory.

On the other end, the new English skipper Jos Butler had a difficult start to his captaincy stint. Losing two consecutive T20Is along with the series but claiming the third game was a silver lining ahead of the ODI games. The return of in-form Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes and Joe Root will be a great addition to the home team. Butler will look forward to winning the next series to register his first ODI bilateral series victory as full-time captain.

Head-to-head:
In the head-to-head competition between the two teams, India have a fair amount of advantage. The two sides squared off on 103 occasions, India won 55 fixtures while England emerged victorious on 43 instances.

The last series between the two teams in the 50-over format took place in 2021, where India won by 2-1.

India’s last outing on English soil occurred in 2018, where England won the series 2-1.
