India tour of South Africa 2023–24 1st ODI: Match preview, head-to-head and streaming details

India have faced South Africa in 91 ODIs, with the Men in Blue winning 38 and SA winning 50.

In the first ODI of the three-match bilateral series, India will take on South Africa at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg tomorrow, December 17, at 1:30 PM IST.

As the tour shifts to a longer format, both sides will look to begin the series with a win after the T20I series was levelled out 1-1. With the ODI setup for the visitors being different from the one played in the shortest format, the side will be fresh and look for new challenges. The likes of KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, and others are returning to the blues along with a few new faces that might make their debut tomorrow.

For the home team, it’s more than just a match, as the side are playing to raise breast cancer awareness. Despite having a similar squad, the team has a lot to demonstrate following a disappointing showing in the third T20I. Reeza Hendricks, David Miller, and Aiden Markram haven’t been in touch in a while and will have a lot to prove. On the other side, the Proteas have performed admirably with the ball, with Andile Phehlukwayo, Lizaad Williams, and Tabraiz Shamsi taking wickets in almost every contest of the campaign.

Head-to-Head:

In the ODI format, South Africa enjoy a commanding lead over India. India have faced South Africa in 91 ODIs, with the Men in Blue winning 38 and SA winning 50.
