ICC grants broadcast rights to MTV Channel for ICC cricket in Sri Lanka

The majority of Sri Lankans are served by the MTV network, which has stations in all three of the national languages.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that MTV Channel (Private) Limited has been granted the rights to broadcast ICC cricket in Sri Lanka until the conclusion of 2025.

MTV will take advantage of the broadcast rights through its free-to-air stations, TV1, Shakthi TV, and Sirasa TV. The digital rights will be utilised through www.sirasatv.lk and ICC.tv, allowing more fans to watch ICC international tournaments over the next two years.

The majority of Sri Lankans are served by the MTV network, which has stations in all three of the national languages as well as a sports channel that broadcasts live coverage of all major sporting events.

The tournaments included in the agreement are the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025, ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, ICC World Test Championship Final 2025, and ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

ICC Chief Executive, Geoff Allardice, said, “We are delighted to be partnering with MTV which is an exciting addition to our suite of broadcast partners. Sri Lanka has such a rich history of cricket and this partnership is a fantastic opportunity to create more fans who can enjoy the sport.”
