The South Korean automobile companies, Hyundai Motor Group and Kia Corporation have jointly announced sponsorships for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia & New Zealand.
As part of the deal, the brands will act as the official mobility partners of the event. The move follows the group’s announcement in May that it has renewed its agreement with FIFA through 2030.
This year’s Women’s World Cup activation lays an important focus on the advancement and progress of the women’s game, which Hyundai Motor and Kia have supported by virtue of their sponsorships of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since 1999 and 2007, respectively.
Karl Kim, President of Hyundai Motor Group, said, “Women’s football has made great strides over the years, building its own independent following and prospering more than ever. Hyundai Motor Group is proud to be on this journey with the great sport of football for the past 24 years and looks forward to supporting women’s football for years to come.”
Throughout the tournament in Australia and New Zealand, transportation operations will be made seamless and effective by Hyundai Motor and Kia. They will provide a wide variety of environmentally friendly cars to transport teams, officials, VIPs, and guests between locations by utilising their enormous global distribution networks.
The formal car handover ceremony for Hyundai Motor’s 371 total deliveries, 235 in Australia and 136 in New Zealand is scheduled on July 3 at Sydney’s Stadium Australia. The official car handover ceremony for Kia’s 223 automobiles, 119 in Australia and 104 in New Zealand will take place at the Eden Park Centerfield in Auckland on the same day.
Additionally, automobiles from Hyundai Motor and Kia will be on exhibit in brand activation zones at tournament stadiums. The 2023 World Car of the Year, the all-new KONA and IONIQ 6, will be displayed by Hyundai Motor. On the other hand, Kia’s exclusive all-electric versions and the 2023 World Performance Car of the Year, the new EV9 and EV6 GT will be on display.
Hyundai Motor Company will also continue to partner with the FIFA Museum as part of its partnership. Following the special World Cup exhibitions hosted in Moscow in 2018, Paris in 2019 and Doha in 2022, this year marks the fourth time Hyundai and the FIFA Museum have worked together. For the duration of the competition, the exhibition will be presented at the FIFA Fan Festival in Sydney in honour of the advancement of women’s football and the Women’s World Cup.
Kia will advertise the Women’s World Cup under the slogan ‘Movement that inspires,’ with local marketing initiatives being run by Kia Australia and Kia New Zealand.
In addition, Kia will run the official match ball carrier programme at all games in collaboration with neighbourhood grassroots organisations to offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for lucky youngsters to carry the official match ball onto the field while walking with the players and referees.
In order to cultivate future leaders of the women’s game, Kia will also debut an inspirational digital campaign highlighting a variety of female football players as role models for kids.
