FC Barcelona player Gerard Pique has bought Ligue 1 broadcasting rights in Spain. According to recent reports, Gerard Pique’s company called Kosmos Holding has purchased the broadcasting rights to Ligue 1 for the next three years.

With Lionel Messi set to make his debut for Paris Saint-Germain, the viewership ratings for the Ligue 1 across the globe is going to skyrocket. With Paris Saint-Germain set to face Reims next week, Messi’s debut is set to be shown free-to-air on the streaming service Twitch.

Kosmos Holding also held the broadcasting rights for the Copa America final between Argentina and Brazil. Moreover, Kosmos Holding is also responsible for broadcasting Serie B in Spain and other countries. It has bought the rights in association with Enjoy TV. Earlier, the television rights for Ligue 1 in Spain was held by Movistar.

The number of ticket requests is exceptional,” said Alexander Jeannin, ticketing manager of Reims.
