England vs Ukraine becomes the most-watched event of the year in the UK

The match that was held in Rome saw a total of 5.2 million live stream viewers on the BBC platform, England will be facing Denmark in the semi-finals the match will be highly anticipated as well.

Gareth Southgate’s side cruised past Ukraine in the quarter-finals of the Euros 2020, the match estimated a record viewership throughout the United Kingdom. The 4-0 win over Ukraine was a huge win for England as this saw them progress to the Semi-Finals of the Euros 2020.

The BBC also published figures which estimated that 81% of the possible audience watched the match on BBC’s streaming platform which takes the combined figure up to 26.1 million people. Which is estimated to be around 35% of the entire British population making it one of the top 10 most-watched UK broadcasts ever.

With ITV having the rights to broadcast the semi-final between England and Denmark, the match is again expected to record massive viewership. In the previous match with Germany 20.6 million people were recorded to be watching the 2-0 victory.

A win against Denmark would see them qualify for the final which will be the first time reaching the final of a major tournament since winning the world cup in 1966. On the other end, Italy will be playing Spain in the semi-finals and the winner will be facing the winner of the England vs Denmark tie.
