The global governing body for hockey, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced a partnership with the UK-based public broadcaster, the BBC.
In this development, BBC will be providing coverage of the hockey Olympic qualifiers for the Paris Olympics 2024.
The deal will enable the BBC to televise every match involving the British men’s and women’s teams.
The British men’s team will compete in Muscat, Oman from January 15 to 21, and the women’s team, which won the bronze medal in the most recent Tokyo Olympics will play from January 13 to 21 in Valencia, Spain.
Tayyab Ikram, President, FIH, said, “Signing an agreement with such a respected, global, and historical broadcaster as the BBC is a demonstration of how these FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers are a fantastic opportunity to showcase our sport.”
Twelve teams will compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as a result of the qualifications; the men’s team is in pool A alongside China, Malaysia, and Spain, and the women’s team is in pool B with Spain, Canada, and Malaysia.
