The 13th edition of IPL has kick started in action and has already broken viewership records for its opening match.
The Dream11 IPL 2020 is quite unique, as everything has gone virtual, starting from the way fans are watching Live matches in the stadiums, to the way commentaries, presentations and press conferences are taking place.
Everything has been planned keeping security and safety as the top priority owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. Fans can connect virtually in the stadiums to enjoy the live coverage of matches. Once the ball hits the boundary there is an artificial applause of the crowd to cheer the teams and spectators.
SportsMint has learnt from its sources, the Indian cricket board has collaborated with BookMyShow, which allows fans to be virtually present during the course of the match. The fans can log in and register with the website to follow up with the procedure.
Apart from this, Star India has also selected the best commentator’s panel for IPL 2020. Although there are very few who’ve travelled to UAE for the live venue coverage, most of the Indian and Hindi commentators are giving updates from the Star studio in Mumbai.
The commentators also have the access to the fan wall which is mounted on a TV screen in their studio. The post-match presentation is also conducted virtually through digital connect to avoid any contact with the players.
Many IPL teams have also come up with respective fan engagement strategies and platforms to keep the people entertained. It is wonderful to see how the fans have responded to the new norm with full enthusiasm and charged up to cheer for their favorite players and teams.
