Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, has onboarded 15 sponsors for the tournament ahead of the season’s kickoff between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Dream11, Asian Paints, Vimal, Thums Up Charged, Havells, Joy Cosmetics, Dettol, Harpic, Vanessa, Amul, Groww, RuPay, HDFC PayZapp, Parle, and Mondelez are among the sponsors Disney Star has signed on for this season’s IPL. According to insiders, the broadcaster is in the midst of acquiring a few additional sponsors before the season begins tonight.
As per reports, Disney Star also sought INR 71 crore for co-presenting sponsorship and INR 35 crore for associate sponsorship of HD channels. Moreover, Disney Star demanded INR 167 crore and INR 83 crore for co-presenting and associate sponsorships on SD channels, respectively.
Last year, JioCinema, the IPL’s streaming partner, and Disney Star competed fiercely for viewer attention and advertisement revenue.
Nonetheless, both are reported to have experienced a revenue decline as a result of the severe competition and stagnant market. According to industry estimates, Disney Star earned between INR 2,000 – INR 2,500 crore, while Viacom18 made around INR 1,800 crore.
Nevertheless, the circumstances appear to have shifted this year, following the announcement by Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and The Walt Disney Company of the merger of Disney Star and Viacom18.
