Crystal Palace collaborate with Amazon for docuseries

Premier League club Crystal Palace will feature in a new Amazon Prime Video docuseries All or Nothing that showcases the journey of the rise of the club from administration in 2010 to promotion to the top flight in 2013.

The series has been named “When Eagles Dare” will launch exclusively on the platform on June 4 and will document Steve Parish’s takeover of the club, which has remained in the Premier League since its promotion eight years ago under Ian Holloway. He guided Palace back to the Premier League after an eight-year absence by defeating Watford 1–0 in the Championship play-off final at the Wembley Stadium but resigned from his position in October 2013.

The episodes will feature never-before-seen footage from the club’s promotion-winning 2012-13 season in 50 minutes episodes. Present-day retrospective interviews with the main figures involved in the promotion will also be included, featuring managers Dougie Freedman and Ian Holloway, and players such as Wilfried Zaha, Jonny Williams, Julian Speroni, Mile Jedinak, and Kevin Phillips. The series has been created by Palace TV, the club’s in-house production team.

Steve Parish, the club’s owner, and chairman said, “This is one of the most remarkable stories in Crystal Palace’s long history and shows that if a club has the support of its fans and community, and the right blend of talent and determination, anything is possible.”

Amazon Prime Video has previously aired other docuseries focusing on fellow Premier League clubs Manchester City and their first title win under Pep Guardiola, Tottenham Hotspur, and Leeds United’s journey back to the Premier League. The platform also holds UK rights to selected Premier League matches. Juventus and Bayern Munich are other clubs that have signed deals with Amazon. The docuseries has become another stream for clubs to add more to the revenue. Clinching such deals in the current climate gives a much-needed revenue boost to football clubs.
