Winamax debuts in Bundesliga via VfB Stuttgart partnership

With this deal, Winamax has been labelled as the main sponsor of VfB Stuttgart until 2026.

The Bundesliga club, VfB Stuttgart have announced a sponsorship agreement with a Paris-based firm dedicated to online poker and sports betting, Winamax.

With this deal, the brand has been labelled as the main sponsor of the club until 2026. Moreover, the partnership, which is the French online gambling firm’s first in Germany, will include the logo of the brand to appear on the first team’s jerseys.

Alexandre Roos, Winamax Group CEO, said, “We are proud to be working with VfB Stuttgart. VfB has one of the greatest traditions of all clubs in Germany, and is also extremely well known beyond the country’s borders. Passion, emotion and a love of sport form the basis of our company, while our values are centred around a sense of fairness and responsibility, and it’s with this promise that we are looking to establish in the German market.

“We have analysed the market and its potential in depth and chosen the strongest available platform in German sport. With this in mind, we see VfB as the perfect partner for our growth strategy. Winamax is proud to become a new member of the wide-ranging VfB family.”

Furthermore, the Bundesliga team complimented the operator for demonstrating a ‘constant commitment’ to protecting children and promoting an understanding of gambling addiction. As a consequence of the agreement, VfB jerseys in children’s sizes will carry the word ‘Stuttgart’ across the front instead of the betting company’s insignia.

VfB Stuttgart, CEO, Alexander Wehrle, commented, “With our portfolio of partners, which combines a regional focus with international resonance, VfB is in great shape for the years to come. We now have incredibly attractive partners across the board – maintaining existing ones and acquiring significant new ones, which will enable us to increase our marketing income from the 2023-24 season onwards compared with previous years.

“Furthermore, we will be able to push forward with strategic priorities such as digitisation, internationalisation and sustainability with these partners. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our partners for their loyalty and their commitment to VfB.”

VfB Stuttgart had a poor outing on the field the previous season, finishing 17th on the points table with only 33 points, narrowly avoiding relegation. Nonetheless, the squad will be hoping for a substantial improvement in the upcoming campaign. They now first take on TSG Balingan in the first round of the DFB-Pokal Cup on Saturday, August 12 at 4:30 PM IST and will further commence their Bundesliga campaign on August 19 at 7:00 PM IST against VfL Bochum.
