WhatsApp unveils maiden sporting partnership with Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team

The Formula 1 team, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team has inked a multi-year partnership with the instant messaging app, WhatsApp.

According to the accord, WhatsApp has been named the official messaging partner of the marquee F1 team. The deal between the two entities will help the fans of the F1 team to have exclusive content. 

This contract marks the first-ever sports partnership for the well-known social networking app.

Toto Wolff, Chief Executive and Team Principal of Mercedes F1 Team, said, “WhatsApp plays a critical role in communications across everything we do at Mercedes-AMG F1. From coordinating our operations, sharing ideas, and supporting one another through the journey of each season, it brings the team closer together.”

He also added, “It also helps accelerate the speed of communication and decision-making across the organization. As two innovative and forward-thinking brands, I can’t think of a more natural partnership. We look forward to working with WhatsApp and bringing the breadth of our stories to life in innovative and original ways.”

Owned by American IT giant Meta Platforms, WhatsApp is a freeware, cross-platform, centralised instant messaging, and voice-over-IP service. Users can share documents, photos, user locations, and other content, as well as send text, audio, and video messages and make voice and video conversations.
