Valencia set to use Augmented Reality for fan engagement

Valencia CF has become the first Spanish football team to integrate augmented reality (AR) content into their mobile application as part of a new two-year partnership with Canadian technology firm ImagineAR. As per this deal, both parties will collaborate for AR-led campaigns designed to increase engagement with fans on the mobile application.

The Spanish club is focused on creating a strong connection with the fans since they are the backbone of a sports team/league. Pandemic has restricted the fans from going to the stadiums and cheering for their favorite clubs/teams. However, every team is coming up with innovative ways to keep the fans entertained and engaged.

ImagineAR’s software development kit (SDK) will also provide the club with an analytics tool to generate marketing intelligence and insights. The club has previously launched its new VCF Innovation Hub with Startup Valencia, a private and non-profit organization founded in 2017.

The new partnership will focus on sporting innovations within the fields of medicine, as well as smart stadia.

Anil Murthy, President of Valencia CF, said, “The resulting immersive experiences will create fun, energy, and excitement that can be shared with other fans on all social media platforms.”

ImagineAR chief executive Alen Paul Silverrstieen said, “Valencia CF is not only our first La Liga partner, but they are also our first professional sports team partner outside of the US and opens the door to further global expansion at the highest level of sports. Our shareholders can take great pride in this achievement.”
