Delhi Toofans have already put together a formidable team at the PVL auction last week in Bangalore.

The RuPay Prime Volleyball League (PVL) has unveiled its latest franchise, Delhi Toofans, owned by Mr. Alok Sanghi, Director of the Sanghi Group.

The ninth team in the league and the first team from the North, Delhi Toofans, would add a new dynamic to the already intensely competitive tournament.

Mr. Sanghi, on the addition of his team to the PVL, said, “I am delighted to introduce Delhi Toofans. This is not just a team; it represents our commitment to promoting sports and providing a platform for aspiring athletes. We are looking forward to season 3, especially after a fantastic start at the auction.”

Delhi Toofans have already put together a formidable team at the auction that was held in Bangalore last week. Delhi looks to make waves in the league, with stalwarts like Universal Manoj Kumar, Anu James, and ace setter Saqlain Tariq leading the charge.

Joy Bhattacharjya, CEO, Prime Volleyball League, said, “We are delighted to welcome the Delhi Toofans to our family. It’s wonderful to see the best minds in the business join us in our endeavour to grow and popularize the sport of Volleyball in India.”

Welcoming the Delhi franchise, Thomas Muthoot, Owner, Kochi Blue Spikers, added, “It is great to see the response we have been getting from various key industry leaders across India regarding the RuPay Prime Volleyball League powered by A23. We are elated to have Mr. Sanghi join us this season. Delhi is a key market for us and with this addition, we believe we are only going to get bigger and better.”

The league’s second season, which aired concurrently in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and English, on Sony Sports Network, SonyLIV and Volleyball World, was an enormous blockbuster.

In contrast to the 133 million viewers from season 1, the matches in season 2 attracted 206 million combined viewers. The edition also amassed over five million fan engagements across various digital platforms.

Season 3 of the Prime Volleyball League is scheduled to commence in February 2024 and can be viewed live on the Sony Network.
