RuPay PVL 2023 witnesses 55 percent growth in TV viewership

The total cumulative TV viewership for the second season of the competition reached 206 million.

The RuPay Prime Volleyball League (PVL) 2023 became a huge success as it received a massive 55 percent increase in TV viewership thanks to its innovative 15-point format, super serves and super points, star-studded teams, and an abundance of support from celebrities and sportspersons – Vijay Deverakonda, Kalayani Priyadarshan, PV Sindhu, and Mayank Agarwal.

The RuPay PVL 2023 featured Ahmedabad Defenders, Bengaluru Torpedoes, Calicut Heroes, Chennai Blitz, Hyderabad Black Hawks, Kochi Blue Spikers, Kolkata Thunderbolts, and Mumbai Meteors.

India’s top premium sports broadcasting network, Sony Sports Network (SPN) aired the second season of the PVL. The total cumulative TV viewership for the second season of the competition reached 206 million.

Notably, the tournament also managed to receive nearly equal interest from the female audiences with the gender split between men and women spectators being 58:42, highlighting an increased interest among women in the sport of volleyball.

Furthermore, the league also saw an exceptional development in reach, engagement, impressions, and viewership on social media.

In addition to this, the league was attentively watched by people from the UAE, the United States, Canada, Nepal, Indonesia, Iran, Kuwait, Pakistan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, among other countries. With over 40% participation, the key demographic of 18-34 was the most engaged on social media for the second season.
