NBA inks a content and promotion partnership with Formula 1

The NBA has games and programming accessible in 215 countries and territories in more than 50 languages.

The National Basketball Association inked a first-of-its-kind content and promotion partnership with Formula 1. This unique initiative has been taken by the two parties to bring the global fanbases of the NBA and F1 together in celebration of the former’s 75th Anniversary season and the return of F1 to the US at the 2021 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix on Sunday, October 24 in Austin, Texas.

Exclusive imagery featuring F1 cars in custom liveries representing all 30 NBA teams will be dropped on NBA and F1’s social channels globally to celebrate the US Grand Prix and 75th Anniversary of the NBA.

ESPN will conduct F1 drivers in a free throw challenge at an NBA 75th Anniversary-themed basketball half-court within the Circuit of the Americas paddock on Thursday, October 21. Several NBA legends will be present to meet the drivers and present shooting tips as they fight to make the most free throws out of 10.

The 2021 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix will be conducted at the Circuit of the Americas track in Austin, Texas since 2012, the event will take place from October 22-24, 2021. Formula 1 will mark its return to the historic track after a break of two years because of COVID-19. The live coverage of the race will begin on Sunday, October 24 at 1:30 PM ET, with live coverage on ABC.
