IPL 2024 GT vs MI: Match preview, head-to-head and streaming details

It's a stalemate between GT and MI in the head-to-head competition.

In the fifth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Gujarat Titans (GT) will host Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad tonight at 7:30 PM IST.

The young skipper of GT, Shubman Gill, will commence his captaincy stint in one of the season’s most anticipated games as he takes on his former skipper’s MI at home. The major development the team witnessed so far is the inclusion of the IPL veteran, Kane Williamson, who had to leave after the first fixture last year after he suffered an injury while fielding in the deep. Since the team’s inaugural edition, the likes of Gill, Rashid Khan, David Miller, and Rahul Tewatia have been crucial aspects for the team and the unit will count on them to show up in the ongoing season too. With some lucrative signings, Shahrukh Khan and Umesh Yadav have been added to the Gujarat team’s arsenal. These two new additions provide experience with the bowl and firepower with the bat in the death overs.

On the other end, the fans of the five-time champions will be looking forward to the season quite bewildered as there’s a major shift in the team’s captaincy. The unprecedented return of Hardik Pandya, as a new skipper, marks the dawn of a new era for the Mumbai team. Rohit Sharma, who brought the franchise laurels multiple times in the past decade, will play as a pure batter. The former champions look like a formidable team on paper with the likes of the Indian captain, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, etc. The unit will aim for its sixth title in the season and become the first team in the IPL to achieve the feat.

Head-to-head:

It’s a stalemate between the two sides in the head-to-head competition. GT and MI faced off on four occasions in the IPL, with the two teams winning a couple of games against each other.
