IPL 2023 CSK vs DC: Jadeja’s all round show clinches win for CSK

Following this win, CSK now have 15 points and sits comfortably second on the table.

In the 55th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beats Delhi Capitals (DC) by 27 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The CSK batters did not have a particularly strong performance in the first inning as no batter was able to score an adequate amount of individual runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad (24) got off to a good start along with his opening partner Devon Conway (10). Ajinkya Rahane (21) also played a slow knock in the middle overs. Furthermore, it was Shivam Dube (25) and Ambati Rayudu‘s (23) 39-run-partnership which gained some momentum for CSK towards the end of the innings. Ravindra Jadeja (21) also tried his best and scored a few boundaries before getting out in the last over. Skipper MS Dhoni (20) took charge of the innings and smashed one four and two sixes in the penultimate over to take CSK to a total of 167 runs.

In the chase, Rilee Rossouw (35) was the highest run-getter for DC. With him, Manish Pandey (27) also got runs finally under his belt but it was the team that required few more from him. Axar Patel (21) was the last ray of hope for DC fans but even he disappointed. DC only managed to reach 140 runs in their 20 overs.

While defending in the second innings, Matheesha Pathirana grabbed three wickets. Deepak Chahar also managed to claim two wickets while Ravindra Jadeja picked one.

For DC, three wickets were picked by Mitchell Marsh. Two wickets were also grabbed by two wickets. Khaleel Ahmed, Kuldeep Yadav and Lalit Yadav plucked one wicket each.

Ravindra Jadeja was adjudged Player of the Match for his all round performance. Following this win, CSK now have 15 points and sits comfortably second on the table.
