In the Sri Lanka tour of India 2023, the second ODI will take place on Thursday, January 11 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata at 1:30 PM IST.

The Men in Blue have started the year with a bang, after securing the T20I series, the team has now already acquired a 1-0 lead in the ODI series. The biggest positive from the first game was the giants of the Indian cricket team making the utmost contribution. The skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who had a rough patch last year, came out all guns blazing in the first ODI of the year. With the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup scheduled this year, the form of the two veterans of Indian cricket is of utmost necessity. The youngster Shubman Gill also chipped in valuable runs along with Rohit at a good rate. Even though the bowlers went for runs but the unit will be confident moving ahead.

On the other end, the Sri Lankan bowlers leaked runs throughout the first innings, to add to their misery, the fielders also dropped multiple catches. Kohli was dropped twice, who helped India to gather a mammoth score. Apart from Pathum Nissanka, there weren’t notable contributions from the top order. Yet again it was the captain, Dasun Shanaka, who played a blinder, scoring 108 and leading Sri Lanka to a total of 306 in their allotted 50 overs. The visitors will work on their bowling and catching before they take the field on Thursday.
