In the third T20 match of the South Africa tour of India 2022, South Africa defeated India by 49 runs at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
After winning the toss, Indian captain Rohit Sharma opted to field first. The decision backfired as South African batters displayed a hardcore performance. Quinton de Kock (68) was once again magnificent on Indian soil as he smashed a fifty which included six fours and four sixes. Rilee Rossouw (100) was absolutely magnificent tonight. The right-handed batter smashed an unbelievable century which had eight maximums and seven fours. This superpower knock helped Proteas reach a total of 227/3 in 20 overs. In the end, a quickfire knock also came from David Miller (19*).
In reply, no one really had an impactful knock other than Dinesh Karthik (46), who played an amazing knock only to give away his wicket in a cheap manner. DK was looking in fine form and was hitting boundaries all over the park but couldn’t take the inning till the end. Other than him, Rishabh Pant (27) also looked in some touch but even the birthday boy couldn’t help the Men in Blue to reach anywhere near the target.
Dwaine Pretorius was relentless with the ball as he grabbed three wickets tonight. Wayne Parnell, Lungi Ngidi and Keshav Maharaj took three wickets each. Kagiso Rabada also plucked one wicket.
For India, only Deepak Chahar and Umesh Yadav picked one wicket in the first innings.
Rilee Rossouw was adjudged Man of the Match for his exceptional batting performance. Following this victory, South Africa managed to avoid a whitewash in the T20I series. The score between the two teams at the end of the smallest format of the game remained at 2-1, in favour of India.
