India tour of Zimbabwe 2022 2nd ODI: India secure series with an emphatic win

In the second ODI match of India’s tour of Zimbabwe 2022, India beat Zimbabwe by five wickets at the Harare Sports Club in Harare.

KL Rahul won the toss once again and decided to bowl. Team India outshined Zimbabwe as the hosts were bowled out for just 161 runs. Shardul Thakur was at his best along with Axar Patel and Mohammed Siraj who were economical.

While chasing, captain Rahul opened the innings along with vereran inform batsman Shikhar Dhawan (33). Although the captain got out early, the latter one smashed some quick fire runs to give India a strong start. Shubman Gill (33) also played a sensible inning as the Men in Blue suffered a small hiccup in the middle overs. Deepak Hooda (25) and Sanju Samson (43*) ensured India’s win in the 26th over. The right handed kerala based batsman hit four sixes and three fours, which helped India secure the ODI series.

For Zimbabwe, opener Innocent Kaia (16) started the innings gently and with him,Sikandar Raza (16) also got some runs. It was Sean Williams (42) who stood up for the home team and led the charge against India. Following a sensible and important knock of Williams, Ryan Burl (39) also got significant runs towards the end of the first inning.

Shardul Thakur picked three wickets in the first inning and with him, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Deepak Hooda grabbed one wicket each.

Luke Jongwe plucked two wickets in the first innings. Tanaka Chvanga, Victor Nyauchi and Raza managed to take one wicket each.

Sanju Samson was adjudged Man of the Match for his skillful batting performance towards the end while chasing. Following this victory, the Men in Blue have obtained series win 2-0.
