Everything to know about the Asia Cup 2023

India, the most dominant team in tournament history, will start their Asia Cup 2023 campaign against Pakistan on September 2.

One of the most-awaited cricket tournaments of the year, the Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to begin tomorrow, i.e. August 30, with the first match between Pakistan and Nepal. The year also involves the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which will be played in the same format as the Asia Cup.

The 16th iteration of the tournament will be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, and Nepal joining the two hosts to compete for the coveted title. The co-host Sri Lanka will be heading into this edition as the defending champions.

India, the most dominant team in tournament history with seven championships, will start their campaign against Pakistan on Saturday, September 2.

Nepal will be making its tournament debut this time around. They achieved qualification by taking home the first-ever ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2023, defeating the United Arab Emirates in the final match by a margin of seven wickets.

The Asia Cup 2023 consists of two groups of three teams each. The top two teams in each group will then advance to the Super Four stage. The Super Four will be a round-robin format and the top two teams from that group will advance to the final, which will be contested on September 17 in Colombo.

From August 30 to September 5, the tournament’s group stage will be contested. Three of these matches will take place in Pakistan, and the remaining contests will be played in Sri Lanka. The Super Four stage will take place from September 6 to 15 and will feature five matches in Sri Lanka and one in Pakistan. The final will take place on September 17 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
